If you`ve done some hillwalking but don't feel confident navigating or you haven't navigated at all, this two day beginners navigation course in Snowdonia, North Wales, will give you plenty of practice and a great start.

We assume you have no prior navigation knowledge and so start with the basics.

You'll spend two days in the hills learning and practising a variety of navigation skills, including; reading the map, map orientation and interpretation, compass use, navigation techniques, following a bearing, navigation strategies and more.

This will give you the knowledge and confidence to navigate your own walks into the hills. The course is run in a relaxed style to maximise your learning and enjoyment and you'll have plenty of opportunity to practice over the 2 days.

• Grid References, how we give them and how they are used
• Taking and following compass bearings
• Reading the map
• Relating the ground around you to the map
• Using a variety of techniques and strategies to get from A to B
• What to do when you get lost
• Doing lots of navigating!

Course Price

£110 per person for the course only

From £170 per person including 2 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, based on 2 people sharing, also available with single supplement from £195 per person

From £165 per person including 2 nights accommodation on a self catering basis, based on 2 people sharing

This includes all instruction, assessment and guiding by a qualified mountain leader and first aider and the course operates on a maximum ratio of 6 clients to 1 instructor , to ensure appropriate focus for each client

No prior navigation knowledge or experience is required, but mountain walking experience is desirable.
