Mount Snowdon for charity - How to go about it

This page is intended to get you thinking about whether climbing Snowdon is a viable option for you and your friends, family or work colleagues to fundraise for your chosen charity and if so what are the steps in organising it. If you are a charity looking for an event organiser, please contact us direct.

How many people can do it?

As many as you need and we arrange the appropriate amount of leaders. All our Snowdon guides are at the minimum qualified mountain leaders and first aiders.

How much?

£40 per person or £36 per person for groups of 8 people plus

How fit do people have to be?

You don’t have to be super fit but some form of regular exercise or training will help. Our experience tells us that people with “active on their feet” jobs are fine but if you’ve got an “at a desk all day” job, you need to be doing some form of regular exercise 2/3 times per week.

What is a good time of year to do this?

With global warming our weather is noticeably less predictable. Having said that, April through to September are typically good times. Client safety is our first concern and there are occasions when Mother Nature decides it’s not a day to get to the top.

What route do you use?

Snowdon has a number of routes depending on people’s fitness levels. Our preferred option is to guide up the PYG track and down the Llanberis track. This allows people to see 2 different sides of the mountain as well as enabling us to finish in Llanberis, where we suggest people stay. To climb up and down Mount Snowdon takes approximately 6 - 7 hours.

 What equipment is needed?

We provide a suggested gear list for participants and obviously the weather plays a large part in determining what is needed on the day. See the gear lists on the Snowdon page

Are there any age restrictions?

Yes, we have a minimum age of 10 years old, depending on circumstances and we require all under 18’s to have a parental consent form unless they are being accompanied by their paretn / legal guardian.

Where do you stay?

We suggest around the Llanberis or Betws-y-coed area, which has a range of accommodation from bunkhouse to hotel. See here for accommodation

What next?

 If having considered the above, you think this is for you, then we would need the following;

After that, it's a case of counting down to the day itself.

If all this sounds promising, then call us or email queries@serenventures.com to start the ball rolling or find out some more.

It’s a great day out, which you won’t forget.
